Steeped in Shadow

shadow challangeI have been entering small paintings on Daily Paintworks. They post a new challenge each week. This challenge was to paint  shadow as a featured part of the painting. I love the drama that strong shadow creates, It made this challenge a lot of fun for me to do. So far I have been using my usual 8 X 6 format, that I use for my daily/weekly paintings.

A FRESH START, WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG

My grandson, Taylor Dewey, TD@tddewey.com ,  just finished creating this new website and blog for me. I am so excited to be able to start blogging once again, and to have a fresh new website to show you.

He kept it very basic for me to navigate and I hope it works well for you too, and that now it will be easier for you to make comments. I am looking forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you have, so please take a moment to let me know what you think.

I have already put some of my more recent finished paintings on the site, and I will post new work as I do it, and perhaps some of your old favorites as well. It is time for my work to come out of the shadows and be seen again.  Enjoy !

WATCHFUL EYE

This beautiful hawk sat patiently atop his tree sunning himself in the morning light.

In the bushes below I could hear small birds going about there morning business.

Perhaps he was waiting for an oportunity to snair his breakfast.

This was one of my favorite shots from our recent trip south. Taken outside our inn at Sedona AZ

RUST AT IT’S BEST

I photographed this wonderful antique ore car on our most recent trip to Ajo AZ.

It was at the site of a huge copper mine. All very fascinating.

A little tweaking on the computer revealed the colors hidden deep within the corroding rust.

Such beauty is so often overlooked.

IN THE SHADOWS from the series CONCEALMENT

IN THE SHADOWS  6″ x 8″  acrylic on canvas mounted on Masonite

These six paintings are inspired by  the many ways in which women conceal themselves,

either in shyness or in a flirtatious manner.

It often adds an air of mystery and intrigue to her presents.
